According to reports in Chinese local media, Chinese Internet tourism service group Ctrip and Japanese advertising and communication group Dentsu formally signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Tokyo.
With industrial resource development, tourism product development and a series of marketing activities, the two parties will promote Japanese travel destinations to international tourists, including Chinese tourists, and better serve global travelers visiting Japan.
Founded in 1901 and headquartered in Tokyo, Dentsu is one of the largest advertising and communication groups in Japan. With the agreement, Ctrip and Dentsu will form a strategic cooperation partnership to implement market expansion targeting Japanese local governments, tourism organizations, and transportation hub companies and organize publicity and promotion activities for various destinations in Japan.
Sun Bo, CMO of Ctrip Group, said that they hope to use Dentsu’s platform advantage to promote the Ctrip brand to Japanese government, tourism industry, and peers in different industries. Meanwhile, they are looking forward to jointly develop and promote unique tourism products and services to global customers, so as to better serve international travelers visiting Japan.
Statistics showed that over recent years, the number of Chinese travelers visiting Japan saw a rapid growth. In 2018, the number was over eight million for the first time, representing a year-on-year increase of 13.9%. From January to October 2019, the number already reached 8.13 million, exceeding the total number in 2018.
