Episode 196: A conversation with journalist Andrew Revkin, Engie’s hybrid PPA scheme

Commentary of some of this week’s stories begins at 4:05.

Telling the story of climate change (20:13)

Andrew Revkin, long-time science journalist and blogger of “Dot Earth” notoriety, is now at Columbia University, where he’s building a communications initiative dedicated to chronicling climate change. He spoke with Joel Makower about the state of climate coverage at mainstream outlets such as the New York Times and Washington Post (“my perception is that they are serving the same small cluster of readers”) and why climate communications need to direct the dialogue toward community impacts. “Once you build community coherence around one aspect of the problem, it’s easier to sustain that conversation,” he said.
