Pentagon Releases Mobile App for Community Support Services

The Defense Department launched a new mobile app connecting the military community with support services, according to a Monday press release.

The app gives Military OneSource, a DOD call center and website providing services like spouse employment and tax help, a mobile form. The military community can use the My Military OneSource app—available for free download on Google’s and Apple’s app stores—for round the clock access to benefits.

“We are excited to offer an innovative, personalized approach to receiving support, resources, and expertise through the My Military OneSource mobile app, in the same way our folks are used to receiving other information in their lives” said Matthew Donovan, undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness. “The Department of Defense is committed to providing valuable support to help our military service members and families thrive, and this mobile app was developed with their needs in mind.”

The app has several special features and creates a personalized experience for each user based on their profile. It includes guides on topics such as finances and relationships, a benefits finder, an advanced search function and connection with live support services, according to the release.

Military OneSource serves a population of 5.2 million, according to the program’s website. The program is part of DOD’s Military Community and Family Policy component. Initiatives in this area reinforce readiness and quality of life, according to the press release.
